Edo HMA Core and Edo SuperTrend Core both put one colored line on the price chart and both answer the same first question, which way the trend is pointing, so at a glance they look interchangeable. They are not. The HMA line is an average of price that moves with every bar, and its state comes from its slope: it tells you how the trend is bending. The SuperTrend line is a level held at a distance of ATR from price that only moves in the trend's favour until price closes through it: it tells you where the trend would be broken.

What Edo HMA Core draws

A Hull moving average of 55 bars by default, in one of three constructions (Standard, Exponential or Triple), colored by the sign of its slope over the last 2 bars: Trend Up in green, Trend Down in red, and Flat in teal when the slope is exactly zero. A triangle marks every Flip Up and Flip Down, the bar where the slope changes sign. A second, faster HMA of 21 bars measures acceleration, with an X every time it crosses the main line. The area between price and the HMA is filled in the state color, and the panel reads State, Slope and Price vs HMA as percentages, Fast (Fast > Slow or Fast < Slow) and Type. Six alerts cover the two flips, the two fast crosses and price crossing above or below the HMA.

What Edo SuperTrend Core draws

A SuperTrend line with three profiles: Fast (ATR 7, factor 2.0), Balanced (ATR 10, factor 2.3, the default) and Slow (ATR 14, factor 3.0). The line sits below price in an uptrend and above it in a downtrend, with a gradient fill between the line and the middle of the candle whose opacity you set. The color is where the indicator adds its own filter: when the line changes side, the color only turns green once the 14-period RSI is above 50, or red once it is below 50; until then it keeps the previous color. When a trend ends, a label at its midpoint prints how many bars it lasted. There is no panel. Four alerts split the change in two: Confirmed Bullish and Confirmed Bearish Trend Change, filtered by the RSI, and Raw SuperTrend Flip Up and Down, unfiltered.

When HMA Core is the one

When you care about the shape of the trend. HMA Core is quick to show that a move is bending: the flip marks the turn in the slope, the Fast HMA falling back below the main line warns that acceleration is fading before the slope changes sign, and the Price vs HMA percentage tells you how stretched price is from its average. Slope Lookback is the noise dial: 1 or 2 bars catch turns early, 5 or more filter out the flips of a sideways market.

When SuperTrend Core is the one

When you need a line to stay in a trend with. SuperTrend Core gives you a level that follows price at an ATR distance and a side that only changes when price closes through it, plus an RSI filter that keeps the color from switching on every weak cross. The two alert levels let you pick your timing: the raw flip is earlier and can reverse, the confirmed change arrives later with the RSI in agreement. The duration labels show how long past trends ran on that chart with that profile, which helps you judge whether the current one is young or already long.

When you want both

When you want the bend and the break on one chart. A typical reading: HMA Core flips to Trend Down, or the Fast HMA crosses below the main line, while SuperTrend Core is still green. The trend is losing slope but has not broken, and the SuperTrend line is the price at which it would. Watch the opposite case too: if the SuperTrend line jumps above price but the color is still green, that is a raw flip still waiting for the RSI.

Panel and extrasPanel with State, Slope, Price vs HMA, Fast and TypeNo panel; a label with the bar count of each finished trend

Does the SuperTrend Core line change side at the same bar as its color?
Not always. The line changes side as soon as price closes through it, which is the raw flip. The color waits for the 14-period RSI to be above 50 for a bullish change or below 50 for a bearish one, so a line that has moved to the other side of price and still shows the old color is a flip waiting for confirmation.
Which of the two turns first?
It depends more on the settings than on the tool. HMA Core turns when the slope of the average changes sign, which can happen before price crosses anything; SuperTrend Core turns when price closes through a line held at an ATR distance, and then waits for the RSI. A shorter HMA Length or Slope Lookback, or the Fast profile, makes each one quicker and noisier.
Do both have a panel?
Only HMA Core: State, Slope, Price vs HMA, Fast and Type, in any corner, Small or Medium, Dark or Light. SuperTrend Core has none; its extra reading is the label that every finished trend leaves at its midpoint with the number of bars it lasted.
